What worship style conflict may reveal about your church.

When the elders of Community Chapel decided to create two Sunday worship services—a traditional service at 9:30 AM and a contemporary style service at 11:00—most thought it was a good compromise. But within nine months the church was on the verge of a split.

“What happened?” “What should the church do now?” These were just a few of the questions the church wanted our Metanoia Leadership Intervention to answer.

Like many churches, Community Chapel was a medium size church located in a growing suburban community outside a major city. For many years the Chapel enjoyed a reputation for growth and community outreach. But not recently. While new houses were being built and new shopping centers and businesses were coming into town, attendance at the Chapel was stagnant.
